Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using LaunchSight ("the Service"), including the website at launchsight.app and the LaunchSight mobile applications, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

Description of Service

LaunchSight provides satellite pass predictions, rocket launch visibility calculations, and related space observation tools. The Service includes:

  • A website with satellite pass prediction tools and informational content
  • Mobile applications for iOS and Android with pass alerts and AR tracking
  • An optional email digest with weekly satellite viewing predictions
  • An optional Pro subscription with advanced features

Accuracy of Predictions

Satellite pass predictions and launch visibility calculations are provided for informational and entertainment purposes. While we strive for accuracy using industry-standard algorithms (SGP4/SDP4) and up-to-date orbital data from CelesTrak, predictions are inherently approximate and may be affected by:

  • Orbital maneuvers by satellite operators
  • Atmospheric drag variations
  • TLE data staleness (orbital elements are typically updated every few hours)
  • Weather conditions not reflected in predictions
  • Launch schedule changes or delays

LaunchSight does not guarantee the accuracy of any prediction. Do not rely on the Service for safety-critical or time-sensitive decisions.

User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws
  • Not attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Not scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service in an automated manner beyond normal browser use
  • Not use the Service to transmit malware, spam, or harmful content
  • Not misrepresent your identity or affiliation when interacting with the Service

Subscriptions and Payments

LaunchSight Pro is available as an optional paid subscription through the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). Subscription terms:

  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription through your device's subscription settings
  • Refunds are handled according to the Apple App Store or Google Play refund policies
  • A free trial may be offered; unused trial time is forfeited upon subscribing

Intellectual Property

The LaunchSight name, logo, website design, and original content are the property of LaunchSight and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written consent.

Satellite orbital data is sourced from CelesTrak (public domain). Launch data is sourced from The Space Devs / Launch Library 2 (used under their terms of service). Weather data is sourced from Open-Meteo (open data).

Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services that have their own terms:

  • CelesTrak — satellite orbital data
  • The Space Devs — launch schedule data
  • Open-Meteo — weather forecast data
  • Google AdSense — advertising (on select pages)
  • Buttondown — email digest service
  • Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of these third-party services.

Affiliate Links

Some pages on the Service contain affiliate links to products (e.g., binoculars, telescopes, cameras). When you purchase through these links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships are clearly disclosed on pages that contain them. Our recommendations are based on genuine assessment of product quality and suitability.

Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $50, whichever is greater)

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes will be communicated via the website or email to subscribers.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service for any user who violates these terms. You may stop using the Service at any time.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the state where the Service is operated.
